Lillard returns for a shot at a three-peat after winning in Utah in ‘23 and Indianapolis in ‘24
After the trade deadline, the focus of the season now shifts to the NBA All-Star Weekend, taking place in San Franciso starting next Friday. Returning to the Bay for his third straight contest, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard will again enter the three-point contest, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. Lillard will be trying to become the third player in NBA history to win the contest three straight times, joining the Boston Celtics’ Larry Bird (1986–88) and the Chicago Bulls’ Craig Hodges (1990–92). Lillard was the first repeat winner since Jason Kapono won it back in 2006 and 2007 for the Toronto Raptors.

Lillard joins a field including Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers), Tyler Herro (Miami Heat), Buddy Hield (Golden State Warriors), Cam Johnson (Brooklyn Nets), and Norman Powell (Los Angeles Clippers). The event will take place on Saturday, February 15 from the Chase Center in San Francisco at 7:00 p.m. CST.
After a relatively down year in 2023–24, his first with Milwaukee, Lillard is shooting 37.9% from deep on 8.9 attempts per game. That’d be the fourth-highest percentage of his 13-year career and his best since 2020–21. It’s a cool 2.5% higher than what he put up last season on slightly higher volume.
We’ll have all things Bucks All-Star during that weekend’s festivities, including the three-point contest and the new All-Star game format.
