Milwaukee Bucks fans shouldn’t expect to see Giannis Antetokounmpo on the floor for Game 3 against the Indiana Pacers.
During this Wednesday’s edition of “Run It Back,” NBA insider Shams Charania provided an update on Antetokounmpo’s injury.
Antetokounmpo is two weeks removed from his calf injury. And yet, he’s still not ready to sprint on his bad leg.
“I’m told he has at least started to do some stationary jump shooting and that was a big development for him. But still not much cutting, no scrimmaging, no all out running yet,” Charania said. “Those are all things he needs to have if he’s going to come back from calf injury. They need to be cautious with bringing him back.”
Charania was unable to provide a timeline for Antetokounmpo’s return. That’s because the two-time MVP hasn’t made enough progress in his rehab.
“I think the Bucks have to be prepared to keep playing on without Giannis.”
When healthy, Antetokounmpo makes the Bucks a contender. He finished the regular season averaging 30.4 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.
With Antetokounmpo sidelined for at least a few more games, the Bucks will need their supporting cast to help Damian Lillard on offense.
The Bucks-Pacers series is tied heading into Game 3. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
