Brewers have two different opportunities to build on yesterday’s win against Cleveland
Today is an exciting day to be a Brewers fan. Milwaukee has two games today for the first time this spring, giving the Brewers’ coaching staff a chance to get some extra looks at players on the roster bubble.
The first game pits recent free agent signing Tyler Alexander and the Brewers against familiar face Corbin Burnes and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Across Scottsdale, Thomas Pannone and another Brewers squad will take on Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
First pitch for both games will be at 2:10 p.m. CT. The game against the Dodgers will be broadcast via radio on WTMJ, for those of you who don’t have MLB.TV and want to tune in.
Lineup regulars Brice Turang, Joey Ortiz, William Contreras, Garrett Mitchell, and Sal Frelick are all back after missing yesterday’s game at Cleveland. Both Turang and Ortiz will be playing shortstop today. One of them will most likely end up as the everyday starter at shortstop this year, so watch to see how they perform defensively. Cooper Pratt gets a well-deserved rest day after starting spring training hotter than the Arizona sun.
A few other players to watch include:
- Caleb Durbin and Oliver Dunn, who the Brewers may need to rely on in the infield this year.
- Vinny Capra, who is currently the team leader with two homers and six RBIs, all of which came in Saturday’s win over Cincinnati.
- Ernesto Martinez Jr, an athletic freak who Javik Blake (the broadcaster for Double-A Biloxi) recently compared to Victor Wembanyama.
Not just one lineup…TWO lineups!
