Logan Henderson makes the St. Patrick’s Day start in Peoria against the Padres
It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, and the Brewers are hoping that their luck will hold. Coming into today’s game with a seven-game winning streak, they will try to keep that going against the Padres.
Starting today’s game is Logan Henderson. With recent injuries to the Brewers’ starting staff, Henderson finds himself in a position where he could begin the season in the major league rotation. Adam McCalvy notes that with the injuries in the rotation, Henderson is a leading candidate to make starts in April. Henderson has made three appearances this spring, pitching 5 2⁄3 innings with no runs allowed. He also has struck out eight and walked just one. Also pitching in today’s game will be Bryan Hudson, Abner Uribe, and Joel Payamps.
The road roster is in use today and many of the regulars are getting the day off. That gives several of the players who are playing for roster spots a chance to get some work in. Andrew Monasterio is playing second, shifted over to give Joey Ortiz some work at shortstop. Oliver Dunn is batting second before Jackson Chourio. Garrett Mitchell bats cleanup with Mark Canha behind him. Ortiz, Tyler Black, Manuel Margot, and Eric Haase round out the lineup.
Here are the full lineups. First pitch is set for 3:10 p.m. CT. The game will be on the Brewers Radio Network, and there is also a free stream available out-of-market on MLB.TV.
