The Brewers are back on the field after yesterday’s rainout
After a rainout in Friday’s game after two innings, the Brewers are back on the field this afternoon. They welcome the Angels to American Family Fields of Phoenix for the first time this spring. It will be their first of two matchups this spring, with the next coming a week from today in Tempe.
Starting today’s game will be Elvin Rodriguez. This will be his third appearance of the spring, with his last one coming on March 3 against the Reds. In that game, he allowed two runs (one earned) in 1 2⁄3 innings of relief. Those are his only two runs allowed this spring, with his other appearance a scoreless inning on February 27. His pitch count was at 35 in his last appearance, which should help gauge how far he can pitch today.
Also pitching in today’s game will be Carlos Rodriguez, Joel Payamps, Abner Uribe, Connor Thomas, and Vinny Nittoli. Payamps will be making his first appearance of the spring, while all of the other pitchers have appeared at least once.
With the team at home, many of the regulars are in the lineup. Jackson Chourio is leading off with Christian Yelich batting second in his third start this spring. William Contreras is behind the plate batting third with Rhys Hoskins batting cleanup. Manuel Margot gets a start in left field with Garrett Mitchell behind him in the order. Brice Turang, Joey Ortiz, and Caleb Durbin round out the lineup.
First pitch is at 2:10 p.m., and there’s full media coverage today. The game is televised on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and also available on the Brewers Radio Network.
