The Brewers haven’t made any huge changes outside of the Devin Williams trade, but the roster will still look different in 2025
While the 2024-25 MLB offseason has been extremely active across the league, the Brewers are among the quieter teams (though it should be noted that most of their NL Central foes join them in that boat).
Still, Milwaukee will have a new-look roster in 2025, particularly with the losses of Willy Adames (signed with the Giants) and Devin Williams (traded to the Yankees). Let’s take a quick look and offer some rapid-fire analysis of the Brewers’ offseason acquisitions.
Nov. 15: Signed 2B Raynel Delgado to an MiLB contract.
Delgado, 24, was a sixth-round pick by the Guardians in 2018. He’s spent six seasons in their minor league system, reaching Triple-A in 2023 and spending the entire 2024 season there. Across 524 MiLB appearances, Delgado has hit .248/.335/.362 with 33 homers, 201 RBIs, 234 runs, and 83 steals. In 93 games with the Columbus Clippers in 2024, he hit .275/.365/.426 with a career-high nine homers, driving in 44 runs and scoring 41 more with 22 steals in 30 attempts.
Nov. 15: Signed OF Jimmy Herron to an MiLB contract.
Herron, 28, was a third-round pick by the Cubs in 2018. He’s spent the bulk of his career in the Rockies’ minor league system after being acquired for cash in 2019. In parts of six minor league seasons, Herron has made 478 appearances with a .270/.365/.440 line, hitting 59 homers, 262 RBIs, 294 runs, and 86 steals. He played in 95 games at Triple-A in 2024, hitting .280/.357/.453 with 14 homers, 68 RBIs, 60 runs, and 16 steals in 21 attempts.
Nov. 16: Signed OF Bladimir Restituyo to an MiLB contract.
Signed as an international free agent by the Rockies in 2018, Restituyo, 23, spent six seasons in their MiLB system, reaching Double-A in 2023 and remaining there throughout 2024. In 543 career games, he’s hit .272/.298/.391 with 41 homers, 242 RBIs, 287 runs, and 133 steals, though he’s been caught 45 times. In a career-high 111 games in 2024, Restituyo hit .270/.312/.350 with five homers, 47 RBIs, 50 runs, and 25 steals at Double-A in 2024.
Nov. 19: Selected the contracts of RHPs Chad Patrick and Logan Henderson.
Two of the more notable names on this list, Patrick and Henderson were both added to the 40-man roster in November to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Patrick, 26, was a fourth-round pick by the Diamondbacks in 2021 and ultimately made his way to the Brewers in Milwaukee’s 2023 trade that sent Abraham Toro to the A’s. He was a breakout star at Triple-A Nashville in 2024, pitching to a 2.90 ERA with 145 strikeouts across 136 1⁄3 innings in 26 appearances (24 starts).
Henderson, 22, was also a fourth-round pick in 2021, drafted by the Brewers out of McLennan Community College. Across three MiLB seasons, Patrick has made 44 starts with a 3.11 ERA and 233 strikeouts over 173 2⁄3 innings. While he struggled in limited opportunities at Triple-A this year (1-3 with a 4.56 ERA across 23 2⁄3 innings), Henderson has high upside and, along with Patrick, has a chance at breaking through to the majors as a depth arm in 2025.
Nov. 19: Signed Cs Ramón Rodríguez and David García to MiLB contracts.
Rodríguez, 26, was a 30th-round pick in 2016 (remember when the draft had 30-plus rounds?!) by the Dodgers. While he’s appeared at every level but the majors since that time, he spent 2024 at High-A Wisconsin, hitting .252/.340/.427 with 10 homers, 38 RBIs, and 33 runs across 74 games. Like Rodríguez, García, 24, spent 2024 in the Brewers’ system, appearing in 84 games at Low-A Carolina, where he hit .233/.393/.286 with no homers, 33 RBIs, and 41 runs scored.
Nov. 19: Signed 2B Anthony Seigler to an MiLB contract.
Seigler, 25, is a former first-round pick by the Yankees in 2018. In six MiLB seasons, he hasn’t gotten past Double-A, and he struggled at that level in 2024, hitting .234/.350/.398 with 12 homers, 49 RBIs, 61 runs, and 29 steals. His speed is his biggest upside, though it may be too little, too late at this point in his career.
Nov. 22: Signed RHP Jose Arias to an MiLB contract.
Arias turns 18 in March and hasn’t made any affiliated appearances at this point in his young career. He’s currently assigned to Milwaukee’s Dominican Summer League affiliate.
Nov. 25: Signed RF Jared Oliva to an MiLB contract.
Oliva, 29, was a seventh-round pick by the Pirates in 2017. He’s bounced around since that time, appearing in 611 minor league games and 26 MLB games with the Pirates in 2020 and 2021, though he hit just .179/.220/.214 across 56 at-bats. In 2024, he was with the Mariners’ Double-A affiliate, where he hit .294/.378/.463 with seven homers, 40 RBIs, 45 runs, and 37 steals, which was enough for the Brewers to warrant an MiLB contract.
Nov. 26: Signed LHP Thomas Pannone to an MiLB contract.
Pannone, 30, is an MLB veteran that actually made one appearance with the Brewers back in 2023, when he allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over 2 2⁄3 innings with four strikeouts. He spent 2024 at Triple-A with the Cubs and Yankees, finishing strong at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with 18 runs (16 earned) allowed over 61 2⁄3 innings across 11 starts for a 2.34 ERA with 49 strikeouts.
Dec. 10: Signed RHP Deivi García to an MiLB contract.
García, 25, is another MLB vet, having appeared for the Yankees and White Sox in 30 games between 2020 and 2024. In 2024, he worked as a reliever for Chicago, allowing 16 runs (11 earned) over 14 innings with 15 strikeouts for a dismal 7.07 ERA. He also made 40 appearances (five starts) at Triple-A, where he didn’t fare much better with a 6.18 ERA over 51 innings.
Dec. 11: Purchased contract of LHP Connor Thomas from the St. Louis Cardinals in the Rule 5 Draft.
Thomas, 26, was a fifth-round pick by the Cardinals in 2019. He had his best season to date in 2024, pitching to a 2.89 ERA with 79 strikeouts across 90 1⁄3 innings at Triple-A Memphis as he transitioned to become primarily a reliever, with 56 appearances (three starts). Given the Rule 5 rules, Thomas will almost certainly be a part of Milwaukee’s bullpen in 2025.
Dec. 12: Signed LHP Grant Wolfram to an MLB contract.
Wolfram, an 18th-round pick by the Rangers in 2018, is 28 but has yet to make his MLB debut. At 6’8”, Wolfram joins Trevor Megill (also 6’8”) as two of the tallest relievers in the majors (though both still trail Sean Hjelle, 6’11”, by a good margin). He spent the bulk of 2024 at Triple-A, pitching to a 3.13 ERA with 69 strikeouts across 60 1⁄3 minor league innings.
Dec. 13: Traded RHP Devin Williams to the New York Yankees for LHP Nestor Cortes and IF Caleb Durbin.
Milwaukee’s biggest move of the offseason, the Brewers shipped Devin Williams to New York and received starter Nestor Cortes and utility player Caleb Durbin in return. Cortes, 30, was an All-Star in 2022 with the Yankees and had a solid 2024 with them, pitching to a 3.77 ERA (3.84 FIP) with 162 strikeouts across 174 1⁄3 innings over 31 appearances (30 starts).
Durbin, 24, was a 14th-round pick by the Braves in 2021. He spent most of 2024 with New York’s Triple-A affiliate, hitting .287/.396/.471 with 10 homers, 60 RBIs, 57 runs, and 29 steals with a 37:47 K:BB ratio across 82 games, though his upside really showed up in the Arizona Fall League. In 24 games during the AFL, Durbin hit .312/.427/.548 with five homers, 21 RBIs, 26 runs, and an AFL-record 29 steals. He added five doubles and a triple while also striking out just six times compared to 17 walks. With the departure of Adames, Durbin figures to fit somewhere in the infield as a utilityman in 2025.
Dec. 19: Signed LHP Bruce Zimmermann to an MiLB contract.
Zimmermann, 29, is a left-hander who has made 38 appearances (27 starts) with the Orioles between 2020 and 2023, pitching to a 5.57 ERA with 126 strikeouts across 158 1⁄3 innings. He spent the majority of 2024 with Baltimore’s Triple-A affiliate, pitching to a 4.34 ERA with 75 strikeouts across 76 2⁄3 innings.
