The standout, memorable games of the year
The Brewers put together yet another season, and another division title, in 2024. The team’s impressive body of work was highlighted by a few key games. What were the Brewers’ best games of 2024?
5) Opening Day – Milwaukee Brewers 3 @ New York Mets 1
Where else to start but the first game of the year? The Brewers kicked off their season in winning fashion as Jackson Chourio debuted, Freddy Peralta pitched a gem, and Christian Yelich had three hits.
Oh! And a bench-clearing brawl after Rhys Hoskins’ slide into Jeff McNeil. Not only did it create plenty of drama to initiate the season, but it also played a role in the intrigue between the two teams in their eventual playoff matchup.

4) June 7 – Milwaukee Brewers 10 @ Detroit Tigers 0
The Brewers gave the Tigers a good thumping, a team that would eventually be a surprising playoff team. But what sticks out most about this game was the team’s underrated stars coming up with some of their best performances of the season.
This was near the peak of Brice Turang’s season as he tallied four hits, two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base. At this point, he was hitting .303 on the year while already notching 22 stolen bases. He was well on his way to establishing himself as one of the elite defenders and stolen base threats in all of baseball.
Tobias Myers was the Brewers’ starter, another unexpected phenom. Myers pitched eight shutout innings to spark one of the hottest streaks from any player in baseball this year. Between that game and his following 10 starts, Myers pitched to a 1.75 for a Brewers’ rotation that was cycling through starters.
3) June 18 – Milwaukee Brewers 6 @ Los Angeles Angels 3
The Brewers controlled the majority of this game, creating a six-run lead by the sixth inning. Seven of the nine starting batters registered a hit.
Yet the Brewers didn’t get out of this one so easily. Two relievers, Elieser Hernandez and Joel Payamps, surrendered a combined three runs to give the Angels a chance. The safety net continued to erode when two runners reached base, setting up the tying run.
With Trevor Megill on for the save, Taylor Ward sent a ball heading for the stands, a would-be game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Instead, Sal Frelick came through with one his signature moments, robbing the home run at the peak of the wall. What looked like an easy win turned into a desperate play, one of the highlight defensive moments of the year.

2) September 18 – Milwaukee Brewers 2 vs. Philadelphia Phillies 1
The Brewers were forced into a pitcher’s duel between Aaron Nola and Freddy Peralta, with both starters allowing just one run in this matchup. The Brewers trailed 1-0 from the second inning onward.
Yet the team’s sensational outfielder, Jackson Chourio, slashed a triple down the right field line to keep the game alive. Jake Bauers would ultimately hit a walk-off single to give the Brewers a win against a serious World Series contender.
Most importantly, it clinched the division for the third time in four years. Kings of the NL Central yet again, it came in a tense matchup against one of the best teams in the league.
1) September 22 – Arizona Diamondbacks 9 @ Milwaukee Brewers 10
The Brewers were one of the most dangerous offenses in the National League this season because of their lineups tenacious, consistent traits. They needed every ounce in this one, pulling off the team’s biggest comeback in two decades.
The Diamondbacks leapt out to an 8-0 lead in the third inning, a demoralizing start to any game, especially fresh off a three-game losing streak. MLB Gameday listed the Brewers’ win probability at 3.8% at that point.
The Brewers had a massive deficit to overcome, but they got to work immediately. A run here, two runs there. Between the third and eighth innings, they only went scoreless in one frame, chipping away at Arizona’s lead.
The game somehow came to life when Willy Adames hit a ground-rule double that trimmed the score to 8-6. Although the Diamondbacks added one more insurance run, it wasn’t enough. The Brewers powered through in a four-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete one of the wildest games of the year.
The box score exhibits some of this game’s strange nature. The Brewers had 16 hits to the Diamondbacks nine, but Milwaukee also had three errors that added to the nerve-wracking nature of the game.
