Five Brewers had multi-hit games in today’s blowout
Today’s 14-1 victory over the A’s was certainly a fun one, for a couple of reasons.
First — the Brewers swiped six (!!) bases in the first inning, becoming the first team to steal six bases in a single inning in the live ball era. The last team to do it was the New York Giants on August 26, 1919.
While Milwaukee wasn’t able to match the live ball era record for stolen bases in a game (12), they still ended today’s game with nine. Only two teams since 1977 (the 2000 Florida Marlins and 1996 Colorado Rockies) have had more stolen bases in a game than the Brewers did today. Even more impressive is the fact that the Brewers had that number by the bottom of the fourth.
Brice Turang had three stolen bases on the day, while Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, Caleb Durbin, William Contreras, and even Rhys Hoskins had one apiece.

The second reason today’s game was especially fun was Logan Henderson, who made his MLB debut today. Henderson, the Brewers’ No. 12 prospect, struck out nine in six innings. He allowed just one run (a solo home run) and three hits.
The right-hander hit his spots, was able to make guys miss consistently, and — most importantly — looked like he belonged in the big leagues. Henderson will probably still need more development (and a consistent third pitch) to reach his ceiling, but today’s debut was about as promising as one could hope for.
Here’s Henderson making the top of the A’s order — Lawrence Butler, Brent Rooker, and Tyler Soderstrom — look silly.

As for the offense, the Brewers scored early and often, putting up four runs in the first on the back of the aforementioned six steals, a couple of timely hits, and two throwing errors by A’s catcher Shea Langeliers.
Milwaukee only had three extra-base hits all game, so how’d they end up scoring 14 runs? Death by a thousand cuts — Milwaukee recorded 16 hits and walked seven times. Every starter scored a run, and every starter except for Caleb Durbin had a hit. The Brewers scored runs in every inning but two.
Rhys Hoskins had a huge day, going 3-for-5 (four RBIs, HR). Hoskins, who seems to be turning it around after a slow start to the season, now has three home runs in the last week. Other Brewers with multiple hits on the day: Brice Turang (2-for-3, BB, RBI), Jackson Chourio (2-for-5, 2B, RBI), Christian Yelich (2-for-3, 2B, 2 BB), Sal Frelick (3-for-4, BB), and Eric Haase (2-for-4, BB).
Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Brewers will face off against the San Francisco Giants in what will be the first of four games. Quinn Priester is scheduled to make his second start as a Brewer, while veteran Robbie Ray will get the ball for the Giants. First pitch will be at 8:45 p.m. CT, with the game televised on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
