Bryan Hudson was optioned, Bryse Wilson heads to the IL to round out busy day for pitching staff
The Brewers will have a slightly different bullpen entering game two of their series with the Cardinals on Tuesday evening, as left-handed reliever Hoby Milner was reinstated from the injured list and right-handed reliever Elvis Peguero was recalled from Triple-A Nashville. Left-hander Bryan Hudson was optioned to Nashville and right-hander Bryse Wilson was placed on the 15-day injured list with an oblique strain in corresponding moves.

Milner, 33, has had a difficult year after breaking out with a 1.82 ERA a year ago, pitching in 51 games with a 4.92 ERA (3.23 FIP) and 52 strikeouts across 53 innings. He was placed on the injured list on August 11, retroactive to August 9, with a left shoulder injury.
Peguero, 27, was optioned in mid-August despite allowing no runs in his last eight MLB appearances spanning 6 2⁄3 innings. In 49 games with the Brewers this year, he has a 3.00 ERA and 43 strikeouts over 48 innings.
Hudson pitched like an All-Star for the first half of the season, but he’s had a few rough outings since the break. He has a 1.73 ERA and 62 strikeouts across 62 1⁄3 innings this season, and he’s allowed just two runs over his last 10 2⁄3 innings (1.69 ERA), but there is concern over a drop in velocity as noted by Adam McCalvy. He’ll also be getting some time off as he’s exceeded his previous innings totals, per Pat Murphy.

Pat Murphy on the Bryan Hudson option: “We haven’t exactly liked everything we’ve seen about how the ball’s coming out and how he’s responding and that type of thing.”
Said he thought Hudson exceeded his previous innings totals and time off will be included in AAA.

Wilson, 26, has had a mediocre season between the bullpen and the rotation with the Brewers, with a 4.04 ERA and 82 strikeouts across 104 2⁄3 innings this year. The oblique injury came about during his last appearance against the Reds on Sunday, and it appears it won’t be a long-term injury, per Curt Hogg.
Bryse Wilson’s oblique injury appeared in his last outing, Pat Murphy said. He got an MRI and it doesn’t appear to be a long-term injury.
