Brewers look to rebound in Keuchel’s second start
The Milwaukee Brewers took a difficult loss last night, but they’ll look to rebound against the Rockies with Dallas Keuchel making his second Brewers start.
In his Brewers debut last week, Keuchel went four innings against the Rangers while allowing four runs. He surrendered eight hits, including two home runs, but he also tallied four strikeouts. Although the Rangers haven’t been as good this year as in 2023, they still boast a potent lineup. While not as prestigious of a lineup, the Rockies still have some pop. How will Keuchel adjust to the Rockies stadium’s conditions?
The most notable lineup change is Garrett Mitchell’s first start of the season, taking his spot in center field. After being reinstated from the injured list, Mitchell got a hit in his return. The playing time given to Mitchell over the next few weeks will likely be an important factor in determining the rest of the Brewers lineup this season.
Jackson Chourio in left field and Sal Frelick in right will fill out the rest of the outfield. It’s a young, talented outfield that could represent much of the Brewers’ future over the next few seasons. Christian Yelich is the designated hitter.
Jake Bauers takes a start at first base tonight, alongside Brice Turang, Willy Adames, and Andruw Monasterio. Although Monasterio has been a part-time player, he now has a hit in five straight games. His production hasn’t been particularly impressive this season with the reduced usage, posting a .189/.283/.283 (67 wRC+) slash line.
The Rockies will have Ryan Feltner on the mound as their starter. His stat line is quite poor with a 5.82 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. Although the results haven’t impressed, Feltner has decent strikeout potential with three starts of at least eight strikeouts this year. His changeup has been his most effective put-away pitch with a 40.2% whiff rate, according to Baseball Savant.
First pitch is at 7:40 p.m. CT on Bally Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
