Brewers begin homestand in search of first win
The Milwaukee Brewers’ start to the season was less than ideal, but with their first homestand here, it’s a chance to get back on track in front of the home fans.
Their series against the Royals, another playoff team from last season, will require the Brewers’ bats to find a spark. Across the first three games, Milwaukee posted a .643 OPS as a team.
To kickstart the lineup, Jackson Chourio takes leadoff in the matchup against left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic. Chourio is inserted as the designated hitter, leaving the outfield to Christian Yelich, Garrett Mitchell, and Sal Frelick.
The infield is drawn up with Oliver Dunn at third, then Joey Ortiz, Brice Turang, and Rhys Hoskins across the diamond. William Contreras will be the catcher.
Part of the offense’s sluggish start can be explained by the slow start from Yelich and Contreras. As two of the team’s most talented players, their performance will be crucial after starting with a combined 3-for-21 showing so far this season.
The Brewers will send right-handed pitcher Elvin Rodriguez to the mound for the first home game of the season. Rodriguez spent the past two seasons in Japan where he made 65 appearances. He made five appearances in spring training but only pitched at least three innings in one of those games, which topped out at 62 pitches.
First pitch is set for 1:10 pm. The game will be available to watch on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin, as well as WITI FOX-6. The radio broadcast will be on the Brewers Radio Network.
