Crew looks to take series with Jose Quintana on the bump
The Brewers are fresh off a win against the Tigers heading into today’s rubber match. With Jose Quintana on the mound today, Milwaukee will look to win the series and climb above .500.
Quintana has already made one start for the Brewers against the Diamondbacks, pitching seven shutout innings. He only struck out two batters, but he allowed just four hits and no walks in a great debut for a team that is looking for consistent pitching. Will Quintana continue success like that without much swing-and-miss stuff? With a solid defense behind him, it’s possible he will find a way to get impressive results like that throughout his starts.
The Tigers have Keider Montero as their starter for today’s game. It will be his first appearance for Detroit this season. His regular season was less than impressive last season, posting a 4.76 ERA with just 77 strikeouts in 98 1⁄3 innings. According to Baseball Savant, he was in the bottom quartile for each of chase rate, whiff rate, and strikeout rate last year.
Brice Turang is back in the leadoff spot today, followed by Jackson Chourio. Christian Yelich and William Contreras will bat third and fourth, respectively. Sal Frelick, Rhys Hoskins, and Garrett Mitchell will bat five through seven, and Joey Ortiz and Oliver Dunn will finish off the order.
First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network. It’s also available out-of-market on MLB.TV.
