Brewers continue to impact season, look to play spoiler
The Brewers may not be playing for playoff seeding, but they sure know how to stay at the center of attention.
Milwaukee will play a part in how this October unfurls before it even begins. They look to continue their role as spoiler to the New York Mets after last night’s 8-4 win.
Tonight’s showdown will be a nationally broadcast showdown with the Mets’ playoff implications as the central storyline.
Jackson Chourio handles leadoff duties, just ahead of center fielder Garrett Mitchell. After Sal Frelick’s injury last night, Isaac Collins will start in left field. Rhys Hoskins starts at first base with Andruw Monasterio, Willy Adames, and Joey Ortiz filling the rest of the infield.
William Contreras starts behind the dish, and lastly, Gary Sanchez starts as designated hitter. Conteras has hit .333 over the last 15 games while walking 11 times, compared to 13 strikeouts.
The Mets starter will be Jose Quintana, with the 35-year-old veteran sporting a 3.74 ERA. His expected numbers aren’t quite as pretty with a 4.67 FIP and 4.49 xERA, according to FanGraphs, but he’s on one of his best runs of the season. Over the last three starts, Quintana hasn’t allowed a single run over 20 2⁄3 innings.
First pitch is at 6:15 p.m. with the national broadcast on Fox.
