Freddy Peralta back on the mound for second game of series
The Milwaukee Brewers send out Freddy Peralta to help the team rebound after a close loss in the opening game of the series last night.
Peralta’s allowed just one run in his last two starts, so his performance will be a fascinating watch. Will he be able to take advantage of an offense with the fifth-highest strikeout rate over the last 30 days, according to FanGraphs? In those two recent outings, he hadn’t racked up the usual strikeout numbers he gets at his best.
Jackson Chourio is at the top of the lineup, a new custom that still remains exciting on a nightly basis. The Brewers offense has actually performed quite well since losing Christian Yelich, largely due to Chourio’s supercharged breakout. Since July 24, the first day without Yelich, Chourio has slashed .319/.362/.555 with a 153 wRC+.
Joining Chourio in the outfield are Blake Perkins and Sal Frelick. Perkins moves into the two-hole tonight, setting up the usual two-player powerhouse of William Contreras and Willy Adames in the heart of the order.
Adames takes his usual spot at shortstop alongside Joey Ortiz, Andruw Monasterio, and Rhys Hoskins in the infield. That leaves an opening at designated hitter for Gary Sanchez.
Left-handed starter Kyle Harrison takes the mound for San Francisco. While his season hasn’t inspired, he’s been putting together impressive starts in between bumpy outings. Over his last 10 starts, Harrison has a 3.81 ERA, but that has come with six outings allowing just two or fewer earned runs.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. on Bally Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
