Brewers look for the sweep in dominant series
The Milwaukee Brewers face the Rockies today for the third and final game of a series that the Brewers have absolutely dominated.
Across the first two games, Milwaukee outscored their opponent 24-3. Will they be able to secure the sweep in similar fashion? Besides the insane offensive output over the past two days, this game will be the debut for pitcher Quinn Priester. With the pitching staff shorthanded, Priester’s inclusion to the rotation could play a significant role in the coming weeks.
Priester’s struggled throughout his time in the majors though. He had a 4.71 ERA last year across 49 2⁄3 innings. There weren’t many bright moments to make that number more palatable. He only struck out 33 batters in that time. The Brewers staff will look to get the most out of his profile as he contributes to the team’s playoff hopes.
In the lineup, Brice Turang is in the leadoff spot. He’s been one of the most important hitters in the order this year, carrying a .327 batting average into today’s game. He also has three home runs, tied for second on the team.
He’ll be joined by Oliver Dunn, Joey Ortiz, and Jake Bauers in the infield. Eric Haase receives another start behind the dish with William Contreras at designated hitter.
The outfield will be configured with Christian Yelich in left field, Garrett Mitchell in center, and Jackson Chourio in right field. It’s still early in the season, but Jackson Chourio looks every bit the superstar that he did through the latter half of last season. He’s batting .315 this season with a .994 OPS.
Right-hander Ryan Feltner will be the Rockies starter. In both of his starts, he’s gone five innings while allowing two earned runs. Last season, he pitched to a 4.49 ERA, but he had fairly even splits against left-handed and right-handed batters.
First pitch is at 2:10 p.m. CT on FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
Last night was fun, let’s go again
