Christian Yelich and Rhys Hoskins each hit a solo home run in the loss
Christian Yelich is starting to get back into his old form. In his third start of the spring, he hit his first home run of the spring. It accounted for one of the Brewers’ two runs as they took a 6-2 loss to the Angels on Saturday afternoon.
The home run came right away in the first inning. In his first at-bat, he hit one out over the batter’s eye in left-center field to put the Brewers ahead 1-0.

Unfortunately, that would be the Brewers’ only lead of the day. The Angels scored three runs off of starter Elvin Rodriguez in the second inning and another run in the third. He allowed four of the six runs that the pitching staff allowed in the game.
The other run on offense came from Rhys Hoskins. He hit his fourth home run of the spring in the fourth inning to temporarily close the gap to 4-2. He’s having a strong spring, posting a .385 batting average so far.

Overall, the offense scattered seven hits and two walks over the nine innings. No Brewer reached base more than once in the loss.
In the bullpen, several pitchers put together scoreless days. Connor Thomas pitched 1 2⁄3 scoreless, while Joel Payamps, Abner Uribe, and Easton McGee each had a scoreless inning. Carlos Rodriguez had a rough outing, allowing two runs in two innings pitched.
As the Brewers pass the halfway mark of the spring schedule, they’re back in action tomorrow afternoon. They will travel to Surprise to face the Royals with Aaron Civale scheduled to start. With daylight savings time starting, game times shift back an hour since Arizona does not observe the time change. First pitch is set for 3:05 p.m. CT on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and MLB Network out-of-market, as well as on the Brewers Radio Network.
