Top Pitching Performance of the Week
With the Brewers still hunting down a first-round bye, Freddy Peralta put together a dominant night against the Philadelphia Phillies, their direct competition in the seeding race. He pitched five innings while allowing one earned one. He accomplished this by limiting the Phillies to just two hits and two walks, striking out nine batters in the process. The Phillies swung and missed on 16 of his pitches, including 10 times on his fastball.
Top Hitting Performance of the Week
Garrett Mitchell’s continues to improve week after week, and this was one of his best this season. Across six games, Mitchell had a .312 batting average while tacking on four RBIs, four runs, and two stolen bases. September has been his best month since returning to action in July. William Conteras’ numbers were very similar, if slightly better in some areas, but Mitchell gets the nod here with his RBI numbers and stolen bases. Mitchell’s recent surge is a valuable development with the playoffs oh-so-close, so it seemed fitting to give him credit for his performance. He played a pivotal role in the Brewers’ comeback over Arizona, entering as a pinch-runner and going on to hit 2-for-2 with a stolen base.
