Top Pitching Performance of the Week
- There has to be a tie for the start of the week. DL Hall may have been the more hyped of the two, as he came up for the game two start against the Reds on Friday. He was brilliant, pitching seven shutout innings with just four hits and one walk allowed. He also struck out five in the start.
- Equaling him was Aaron Civale in his start on Wednesday. He also pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out seven.
- Freddy Peralta gave us a flash of brilliance in a six-inning scoreless start on Tuesday. He allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out eight.
- Out of the bullpen, Aaron Ashby appears to be in top form. He made two separate two-inning appearances last week, allowing a total of one hit and one walk. He struck out three in each of those two appearances as well.
Top Hitting Performance of the Week
There were plenty of great performances after a 5-2 week, but it’s hard to look past Willy Adames for the last week. He had a five-home-run week, with one home run in each of the four games against the Reds. In total, he drove in 10 runs and had a 211 wRC+. Honorable mention goes to Garrett Mitchell, who batted .462/.563/1.154 with two home runs last week.
Injury Notes & Roster Moves
- It was a quiet week for roster moves. DL Hall was the focus of a couple of those. He was recalled on Friday to serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader against the Reds, then returned to Triple-A. The next day, when rosters expanded, he was recalled again.
- The other September call-up was Brewer Hicklen. He was also recalled from Triple-A and started in Sunday’s game.
- Jackson Chourio had an injury scare in game one of Friday’s doubleheader when he rolled his ankle while running to first base. He remained in the game after that but got game two of the doubleheader off. Everything looks good as he’s played the last two games and reports no pain from it.
- Hoby Milner began a rehab assignment with the Timber Rattlers, while Enoli Paredes was moved there to continue his rehab after a few appearances with Nashville.
