Top Pitching Performance of the Week
- The best performance of the week was pretty clear. In Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over the Cardinals, Frankie Montas pitched seven shutout innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. Montas also pitched pretty well on Sunday, though he was undone by one big inning (and some bad umpiring). A shoutout also to Joel Payamps, who continued his scoreless outing streak with three more shutout innings, and Aaron Ashby, who looked great at Triple-A Nashville before pitching two scoreless innings in relief on Sunday afternoon.
Top Hitting Performance of the Week
Jackson Chourio continues to lead the team offensively, as he posted a team-high .850 OPS and led the team with eight hits and three extra-base hits.
Injury Notes & Roster Moves
- As the Brewers deal with a bit of a roster crunch in their bullpen leading up to the expanded rosters on Sept. 1, we’ve seen a little bit of strategic movement. Elvis Peguero was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a move that was a little harsh but understandable from the team’s standpoint in a move to get Trevor Megill activated from the injured list.
- Also in the bullpen, Nick Mears, who got beat up a bit this week, was placed on the IL with what the team calls “right forearm inflammation.” The aforementioned Aaron Ashby was recalled from Nashville in his place.
- Enoli Paredes also nears a return, as he was sent on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville, but he is ineligible to return from the 60-day IL until Sept. 1.
- Finally, Blake Perkins was activated from the 10-day IL after a short stint, which sent Tyler Black back to Nashville.
