Big Woo made his return to the mound and Sal Frelick homered in the win
The Milwaukee Brewers just keep winning in Arizona, as they extended their spring training win streak to seven games and improved to 13-9 overall with an 8-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians.
The big story of the day was the return of Brandon Woodruff, who made his first spring training appearance in a one-inning outing. Woodruff allowed a walk and struck out one across a scoreless inning as his fastball sat around 95 mph.

José Quintana took over from there, pitching two scoreless innings of his own as he struck out a pair and allowed one hit.
On offense, the Brewers struck first in the bottom of the third as Andruw Monasterio singled before Sal Frelick took Ben Lively deep to make it 2-0.

After getting the first two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Milwaukee mounted an offensive rally as Vinny Capra walked, Caleb Durbin singled, Monasterio brought one in with a single, Frelick walked, and Jackson Chourio brought two in with a single to make it 5-0.

The scoring didn’t stop there, though, as Milwaukee did almost the exact same thing in the bottom of the fifth. Capra got things started with a two-out double before scoring on an RBI single from Durbin. Monasterio walked and Frelick collected his third RBI with another single to make it 7-0.

Cleveland finally pushed across a pair on solo homers from Jhonkensy Noel and Juan Brito, both of which came against Deivi García in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively.
Milwaukee tacked on one more in the eighth as Monasterio singled, stole second and advanced to third on the same pitch (thanks to a wild pitch), and scored on a single by Garrett Spain.
With Brice Turang and Joey Ortiz both out of the lineup today, there wasn’t much to watch in terms of position battles, though potential role players like Capra, Durbin, and Monasterio all had solid days. Capra went 1-for-3 plus a walk with two runs scored, Durbin went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Monasterio went 3-for-3 plus a walk with three runs, an RBI, and a steal.
Frelick and Chourio also had solid offensive days, as Frelick went 2-for-3 plus a walk with three RBIs and a run, and Chourio went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a steal.
On the pitching side, García was the only player with a blemish, though he struck out four across three innings of work. Elvis Peguero also went 1 1⁄3 innings, striking out three as he continued a solid spring (2.84 ERA across 6 1⁄3 innings).
Fans can now turn their attention to Milwaukee’s Spring Breakout Game, as their top prospects are set to take on the Reds’ prospects at 6:40 p.m. CT on MLB Network. Jacob Misiorowski gets the start against a lineup filled with prospects for Cincinnati.
