With spring training in the books, it’s time to look ahead to the regular season. With that in mind, we’re asking fans how they think the NL Central will play out in 2025, specifically who will win the division.
To quickly recap the offseason, the Brewers’ most notable additions are Nestor Cortes and José Quintana, while they lost star shortstop Willy Adames, closer Devin Williams, and pitchers Frankie Montas, Joe Ross, and Colin Rea, among others.
The Cardinals didn’t do much of anything, with Paul Goldschmidt and Kyle Gibson leaving and their lone free agent addition coming in the form of Phil Maton.
The Cubs acquired Kyle Tucker and Ryan Pressly in a trade with the Astros that sent Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski, and prospect Cam Smith to Houston. They also signed the aforementioned Rea, traded for reliever Eli Morgan, and added veterans Carson Kelly, Justin Turner, and Jon Berti. They also lost Kyle Hendricks to the Angels and traded Cody Bellinger to the Yankees.
The Pirates made a few minor deals, trading Luis L. Ortiz to the Guardians and acquiring Spencer Horwitz. They also brought back Adam Frazier and signed Tommy Pham and Andrew Heaney while losing Aroldis Chapman and Michael A. Taylor.
Lastly, the Reds made several deals, adding Brady Singer, Gavin Lux, Taylor Rogers, and Jose Trevino via trade and signing Austin Hays, Scott Barlow, and Wade Miley. They lost Jonathan India, Amed Rosario, Jakob Junis, Joey Wiemer, Justin Wilson, and Ty France. Perhaps most notably, they hired Terry Francona as their new manager.
