Minor league seasons draw to a close as all four major Brewers affiliates finish with a winning record
Each week, I’ll be bringing you a roundup of the Brewers minor league affiliates, including score updates, key players, and more. Here is the week 26 roundup.
Triple-A Nashville
The Sounds closed out their season with a 3-3 series against the Norfolk Tides (69-81 overall; 33-42 second half), dropping the first three before taking the last three to finish the year at 78-68 overall and 40-31 in the second half.
The offense had a big week, with four players picking up two homers apiece. Wes Clarke led the squad with nine hits, driving in seven and scoring seven runs as he hit .429/.538/.762 with two homers over 21 at-bats. Francisco Mejía, Chris Roller, and Tyler Black each collected two homers, while Brewer Hicklen homered and had seven hits on the week. As a team, the Sounds hit .267/.350/.451 with 10 homers and 35 runs this week.
Mitch White closed out his season with another strong start, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with a team-high eight strikeouts over seven innings. Chad Patrick struck out seven and allowed one run over five innings; Logan Henderson worked four scoreless innings with four strikeouts; and Easton McGee worked three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Jacob Misiorowski was once again solid in relief, allowing just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts across two innings. The Sounds pitching staff finished the week with a 4.25 ERA and 53 strikeouts across 48 ⅔ innings.
The Sounds hit the road for their last series of the season in Norfolk against the Tides (66-78 overall; 30-39 second half). Nashville is 3-6 against Norfolk this season.
Double-A Biloxi
The Shuckers dropped two of three to the Montgomery Biscuits in the Southern League Division Series this week, drawing their season to a close. Montgomery took game one on Tuesday in Biloxi by a 9-2 score before the Shuckers got one back on the road with a 5-1 win. In a winner-take-all game three, the Biscuits came out on top by an 8-2 final.
Ernesto Martinez Jr., Cooper Pratt, and Zavier Warren all homered in the series. Pratt led the team with three RBIs in his Double-A debut after being promoted from High-A. Lamar Sparks led the offense with four hits, including three doubles. As a team, the Shuckers hit .165/.289/.320 with three homers and nine runs scored.
K.C. Hunt made another strong start to close out his season, picking up the win as he allowed one run on three hits and no walks with five strikeouts across 7 ⅔ innings. Chase Costello worked three scoreless innings across two appearances in relief, allowing one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. The pitching staff finished the series with a 5.88 ERA, striking out 24 across 26 innings.
High-A Wisconsin
After winning the series opener last Sunday, the Timber Rattlers lost the last two games of the Midwest League Championship Series to the Lake County Captains, handing the Captains the title. Wisconsin won a thrilling game one 5-4 but dropped game two (6-2) and game three (9-4) on the road on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
The offense mostly went stagnant, but Jadher Areinamo and Yophery Rodriguez led the team with four hits each. Areinamo’s four hits included a pair of doubles, and Rodriguez drove in a team-high three runs. The catching tandem of Tayden Hall and Matthew Wood combined for six hits across 15 at-bats (.400 batting average). As a team, the Rattlers hit .253/.368/.293 with no homers and 11 runs scored.
Will Rudy had the top start of the series, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts across five innings. Mark Manfredi, Brailin Rodriguez, and Chandler Welch were all scoreless in relief, combining for four innings with eight strikeouts. As a staff, the Rattlers finished the series with a 6.48 ERA, striking out 30 batters over 25 innings.
Single-A Carolina
