Ozzie Timmons is out, Eric Theisen and Al LeBoeuf are in
The Milwaukee Brewers announced a few coaching staff changes for the 2025 season on Monday afternoon, as Al LeBoeuf was named the team’s lead hitting coach and Eric Theisen was added as an additional hitting coach. Hitting coach Connor Dawson will remain with the team while hitting coach Ozzie Timmons will not return for 2025.
Both LeBoeuf and Theisen are on major league coaching staffs for the first time in their careers.
“In his 15 seasons in the organization, Al has played a key role in the development of many of the young hitters you see on the Major League team today,” said Brewers Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold. “His familiarity and relationships with all these players will be a great resource for us. Al has had a long journey to get here and we are very excited for him.
Both Dawson and Timmons were hired as co-hitting coaches prior to the 2022 season after the firing of Andy Haines. With Timmons’ departure, LeBoeuf will lead the hitting coaches as Dawson and Theisen both serve in supporting roles.
LeBoeuf, 64, has been in the Brewers system as a coach since 2010, working in various hitting coach capacities at Double-A Huntsville (2010-11), Triple-A Nashville (2012), High-A Wisconsin (2016), Triple-A San Antonio (2019-20), and again with Nashville (2021-24). He spent 2013 as a player development scout and 2014-15 at the team’s Phoenix complex.
Prior to joining the Brewers organization, he spent time with the Phillies, Mets, Royals, and Blue Jays dating back to 1989. He also played in the Phillies organization from 1981-88 after being selected in the 28th round by Philadelphia in 1981.
Theisen, 39, served as an assistant hitting coordinator from 2022-24 with the Brewers. He also served as the hitting coach at Nashville alongside LeBoeuf in 2024 and as the hitting coach with Low-A Carolina in 2021.
Before joining the Brewers organization, Theisen was the head coach at Hillsdale College (MI) from 2014-21, the assistant coach at Hillsdale from 2011-13, and the assistant coach at Siena Heights University (MI) from 2008-10. He played college baseball at Illinois State University from 2004-08.
