Crew gets news on former star reliever in middle of break
The Brewers received an injury update on a 2023 rookie breakout as well as a look ahead to 2025 as the regular-season schedule was released for all 30 MLB teams on Thursday.
First, the injury news. Reliever Abner Uribe, who had a strong 2023 before struggling to start 2024, is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
While it was originally speculated that Uribe wouldn’t miss extended time, he announced via Instagram that his season is over.
Uribe, still only 24, had a 1.76 ERA with 39 strikeouts across 30 2⁄3 innings in 2023 but struggled with a 6.91 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 14 1⁄3 innings to open 2024. Uribe had a 1.04 ERA in 8 2⁄3 innings with Triple-A Nashville prior to going down with the knee injury in late May.
He was part of a brawl in his penultimate MLB appearance, which he will still need to serve a short four-game suspension for upon his return.
