Oliver Dunn transferred to 60-day IL to clear spot
The Milwaukee Brewers have selected outfielder Brewer Hicklen to the 40-man roster and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville, where he has already spent the entire 2024 season. Infielder Oliver Dunn was moved to the 60-day injured list to clear a 40-man spot.
Hicklen, 28, was signed to a minor league deal this past offseason and played well in spring training with the major league squad. He’s only had four MLB at-bats in his career, all of which came with the Royals in 2022, when he went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.
With Triple-A Nashville this season, he’s hitting .270/.383/.571 with 19 homers, 55 RBIs, 55 runs, and 26 steals in 72 games.
Dunn, 26, was acquired in a trade with the Phillies last November. He split time with the Brewers and Sounds while healthy this season, hitting .310/.394/.517 with a homer, three RBIs, six runs, and two steals in eight games with Nashville and hitting .221/.282/.316 with one homer, seven RBIs, 11 runs, and three steals in 41 games with Milwaukee. He was placed on the injured list with a back strain on June 19. His move to the 60-day IL means he won’t be eligible to return until at least mid-August.
